ESPN anchor Stephen A. Smith recently offered some insight into the Kyrie Irving situation.
Smith said he knows that the Brooklyn Nets are “disgusted” with the seven-time All-Star.
“I said it before, and I’m telling y’all again. They’d give his a– away for a box of cookies if they could,” Smith said. “They’re so disgusted with this dude. I’m telling you what I know.”
The Nets came to a crucial decision on Tuesday regarding Irving’s availability for the 2021-22 season. Until he’s able to be a full participant with the team, he won’t partake in any games or practices.
Irving, of course, remains unvaccinated against COVID-19. As a result, he’s required to miss Nets home games. Brooklyn has decided not to use him in road games, either.
The situation is certainly an interesting one. Unless Irving receives the shot, it seems like there’s a chance he could miss the entire season.
If the Nets are in fact “disgusted” with Irving, it’ll be worth monitoring whether or not the 29-year-old’s name pops up in trade rumors in the near future.
