Steve Nash has the luxury of coaching one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference in the Brooklyn Nets, but he’s entirely aware of how tough the conference is this season.

Nash recently stated that the Eastern Conference is “about as strong” as it has been in a “long time.”

“The simple answer is it’s about as strong as the East has been for a long time,” Nash said. “There aren’t any ‘gimmes,’ so to speak. The West is terrific and has some great teams at the top, but the East is deep. Every night, it seems like a battle. I think it’s good for the balance of the league and for this kind of depth and parity.

“It feels like since the ’90s, we haven’t seen that, but it’s been exciting to see such a competitive Eastern Conference so far.”

It’s anyone’s guess as to which team will emerge from the Eastern Conference this season. It seems like the conference features a handful of teams capable of reaching the NBA Finals.

Nash’s Nets certainly fit that description. They’re 16-7 on the year, which is the best record in the Eastern Conference at the moment.

Other squads in the conference like the Milwaukee Bucks, Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat also seem like legitimate threats to make some noise this season. Teams like the Philadelphia 76ers and Atlanta Hawks are probably worth keeping an eye on as well.

The playoffs figure to be chaotic, and that’ll definitely be a welcome sight for NBA fans who enjoy drama.
