Former NBA big man and Boston Celtics champion Glen Davis took to Instagram this week to offer a look at a job he had in the past that he “really used to like.”
NBA fans likely know Davis better for his career on the hardwood, as he spent eight seasons in the association and had some memorable years.
He was just a rookie when he helped the Celtics win the 2008 NBA title, but he got some playing time during the postseason run, appearing in 17 playoff games.
Some of his better seasons came later in his career, like in the 2010-11 season, when he averaged 11.7 points and 5.4 rebounds per game for the Celtics. In the 2012-13 campaign, he posted some impressive numbers with the Orlando Magic, but he only appeared in 34 games. He averaged 15.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per contest in the games he did play in.
More recently, Davis has been in the news due to legal issues. He was found guilty in 2023 of conspiracy charges related to a scheme to defraud the NBA’s healthcare system. He could have to serve prison time as a result.
The retired hooper was also in the news a couple years back for reportedly violating his bail related to the healthcare scandal in order to attend a Celtics game.
Davis, who was originally a second-round pick in 2007, finished his career with averages of 8.0 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. He played for a total of three teams in the NBA and was often a fan favorite.
The franchise he won a championship with is currently enjoying a strong season. The Celtics are 50-14 and have a very comfortable lead atop the Eastern Conference standings. They haven’t won a title since Davis’ team did so in 2008, but that could change as soon as this season.
Davis will certainly be keeping an eye on his former squad, even though he seemingly has a lot going on away from basketball as well.
