Charlie Villanueva on incident involving Chris Rock, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith: ‘As a fellow Alopecians, I stand with Will and Jada’

Will Smith won best actor honors at the Academy Awards on Sunday night for his performance in “King Richard.”

However, that was not what many people were talking about during the ceremony.

Many were instead talking about the incident that took place between Smith and comedian Chris Rock.

Rock made fun of Smith’s wife Jada Pinkett Smith for her shaved head. Smith did not think the joke was funny at all, and he walked onto the stage in order to slap Rock across his face.

The incident stunned many watching all over the world.

Pinkett Smith revealed in 2018 that she was diagnosed with alopecia, an autoimmune disease that causes hair loss. Former NBA big man Charlie Villanueva, who has also battled alopecia himself, recently spoke out about the incident.

A countless amount of people have offered their opinions on social media. Without a doubt, the former first-round pick’s words carry a lot of weight.

In the end, it seems as though both Rock and Smith want to move on from the altercation. It was reported that Rock does not plan to file any charges against Smith.

Villanueva played in 11 seasons in the NBA, and he averaged 10.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game while shooting 43.5 percent from the field and 34.1 percent from beyond the arc throughout his career.

As for Pinkett Smith, hopefully she will be able to recover from the joke that was certainly made in poor taste.
