The Charlotte Hornets drafted guard LaMelo Ball with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.
Ball is super talented, but also very raw in terms of where his game is right now.
However, that didn’t stop his father, LaVar, from saying that the younger Ball would beat Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry in a one-on-one matchup.
“Stop it, LaMelo,” Ball said when asked who would win in an article by Bleacher Report’s Rob Goldberg. “Steph is too little, he’s only like 6’3″ or 6’2″. LaMelo is taller than him and longer than him.”
Curry is a two-time NBA MVP and has won three NBA titles. He is widely regarded as the greatest shooter in NBA history.
Yet, the elder Ball continues to claim that his sons are the best. While the elder Ball’s support for his kids is great, it can’t be easy to be compared to NBA greats every day.
The younger Ball certainly has a bright future in the league, but it may be a bit premature to give him the nod over Curry in a game of one-on-one.
The Warriors and Hornets won’t play head to head until February, but they will face each other twice in a week.
The first matchup is set for Feb. 20 of next year. The second is scheduled for Feb. 26.
The 2020-21 NBA season is set to kick off on Dec. 22.
