Thus far, the Charlotte Hornets’ 2022 offseason has been marred by disturbing criminal allegations brought against forward Miles Bridges, but that does not mean the team is not looking for ways to improve its roster.

Though Bridges’ entire NBA career is currently in doubt due to the charges that have been brought against him, the Hornets are focusing on other players that they might want to acquire this offseason to improve their squad.

Charlotte is reportedly considering a reunion with former Hornets star Kemba Walker. In addition, the team is reportedly interested in bringing back Isaiah Thomas, who had a successful stint with the franchise last season.

“Sources tell me the Hornets are considering a reunion with former franchise cornerstone Kemba Walker, among other point guards in the free agent marketplace,” Shams Charania reported. “The team is also interested in the potential re-signing of Isaiah Thomas, who had strong play last season and emerged as a positive locker room leader in Charlotte.”

Charania added that the team is expected to be patient in its roster moves as it awaits the legal process of Bridges’ case.

Walker played with Charlotte for the first eight seasons of his career. During that stint, he was named an All-Star three times and was the face of the franchise. Though his production has taken a substantial dip since his departure from the franchise, his return to the team would still be cause for celebration.

As for Thomas, he appeared in 17 games for the franchise during the 2021-22 regular season and averaged 12.9 minutes per game. He recorded 8.3 points and 1.4 assists per contest during that short stint.

The Hornets appeared to be on the verge of a breakthrough with LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges leading the charge for the organization, but the viability of that young core has obviously been brought into question as of late.

As the team awaits further information regarding Bridges’ case, it makes sense that it is looking to address other needs in the meantime. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the summer progresses for the franchise from here on out.
