The Charlotte Hornets are seen as a team that is right on the border between being pretty average and challenging for a playoff spot year in and year out.
One reason why the Hornets are seen as a team with playoff potential is because they have youngsters LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges. According to a recent report, a lot of the supporting cast on the Hornets could be on the move, as the team is expected to gauge trade interest in players such as Terry Rozier, Mason Plumlee, P.J. Washington and Kelly Oubre Jr.
“The Hornets are expected to gauge trade interest in Terry Rozier, P.J. Washington, Kelly Oubre Jr. and Mason Plumlee in advance of Bridges’ restricted free agency,” Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report wrote.
A team looking into interest in players on its roster is nothing new, but for such a large number of players to seemingly be available in trades is a bit more rare. It signals that the team may be looking to make a pretty sizable shift in the way it hopes to play going forward.
As all NBA fans know, Ball is one of the best young guards in the league. Last season, he averaged 20.1 points, 7.6 assists and 6.7 rebounds per game. He was named to the first All-Star Game of his career, and he’ll likely be named an All-Star many more times throughout his career.
Now that the Hornets truly know what they have in Ball, they might shift toward trying to get players that can really help him reach his full potential. Who those players might be remains to be seen.
