LSU football star had no idea who Michael Jordan was: ‘Who’s MJ?’

Louisiana State University’s Harold Perkins, a rising star in the college football world, had no idea what his head coach was talking about when he referenced Michael Jordan’s iconic flu game.

Perkins overcame an illness to play in LSU’s game against the University of Arkansas on Saturday. Before the game, LSU head coach Brian Kelly told Perkins that “M.J. threw up when he had his greatest game,” and Perkins replied by asking, “Who’s M.J.?”

Whether Perkins is familiar with Jordan or not, the youngster has a very bright future ahead of him. In his freshman season at LSU, he has 7.5 sacks, eight tackles for loss and 52 total tackles in 10 games. He also has one interception, two forced fumbles and two passes defended.

In LSU’s game against Arkansas, Perkins racked up four sacks and eight total tackles. He made countless impact plays, and his squad needed every last one of them. LSU escaped Arkansas 13-10.

Although it wasn’t the prettiest of wins for the Tigers, the team did a nice job of avoiding a potential letdown performance after its epic win over the University of Alabama last weekend.

The win over Alabama completely changed the trajectory of LSU’s season. The Tigers are 8-2 and have already clinched a spot in the SEC title game.

If LSU can finish the regular season at 10-2 and then upset the University of Georgia for the SEC title, the Tigers will have a very legitimate case at becoming the first two-loss team to ever make the College Football Playoff.

LSU was ranked No. 7 in last week’s College Football Playoff rankings and could move up in the new rankings after a loss on Saturday by the University of Oregon, last week’s No. 6 team.

Perkins will certainly do everything in his power to get LSU to the four-team playoff. The Tigers won it all in the 2019 season after putting together a 15-0 campaign, and LSU fans would love nothing more than to see their team rule the college football world once again.

No matter what happens this season, Perkins figures to have an outstanding career at LSU before likely heading to the NFL.
