Stephen Curry issues powerful message of unity in response to criticism from Donald Trump

President Donald Trump has been extremely critical of the NBA.

That’s been especially true since NBA players have become more vocal while advocating for the Black Lives Matter movement.

Players displayed social justice messages on their jerseys during the NBA’s restart in Orlando, Fla. and have been very outspoken following the tragic deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor as a result of police violence.

Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry commented on the president’s criticism towards the NBA in recent months.

“It’s not like we haven’t been in that conversation for a very long time and used our platform for a very long time,” Curry said in an interview with the Washington Post. “Guys haven’t gone to the White House in years. It’s not going to stop. … But, again, it’s how we handle ourselves and continue to speak up. The league is going to be fine.”

Curry and the Warriors declined to go to the White House after winning the 2017 NBA title. Trump then revoked his invitation to the team.

This year, the president took a shot at the NBA’s ratings following LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers’ championship run.

It is clear that Trump does not like the fact that players haven’t supported his presidency or campaign, but the players, like Curry, don’t seem bothered.

Curry and the Warriors will look to get back into championship contention next season. Surely, he hopes another president is in the White House by that time.
