Houston Rockets superstar James Harden reportedly could request a trade.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Tim MacMahon reported that both Harden and guard Russell Westbrook are concerned with the future of the team.

However, it seems that it is possible that one, if not both players, could request a trade in the future.

“Although neither player has requested a trade at this point, that scenario has become a plausible eventual possibility,” Wojnarowski and MacMahon wrote.

For the Rockets, losing Harden and Westbrook would immediately vault the team into rebuild mode.

While the Rockets have contended for much of Harden’s time in Houston, they have not made an NBA Finals.

After acquiring Westbrook last offseason in exchange for Chris Paul, Houston failed to take the next step during the 2019-20 campaign.

The Rockets lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the playoffs.

Now, since Houston has parted ways with general manager Daryl Morey, it seems that the futures of Westbrook and Harden are up in the air.
