According to a recent report, many people around the NBA are keen on the idea of pairing draft prospect Jalen Green with emerging Houston Rockets star Kevin Porter Jr.
“Multiple people around the league love the idea of Green fitting in Houston, mainly because of the potential for stardom down the line and the backcourt fit with Kevin Porter Jr.,” wrote Kelly Iko of The Athletic.
Green, 19, spent his 2020-21 season playing with the NBA G League Ignite. There, he averaged 17.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game while shooting 46.1 percent from the field and 36.5 percent from deep. He is widely regarded as one of the top prospects in the upcoming draft.
Porter, on the other hand, is coming off of an impressive second-year campaign with the Rockets. The 21-year-old averaged 16.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 6.3 assists per game while shooting 42.5 percent from the field.
Porter will be in Houston for at least one more season and likely beyond, as the Rockets have a club option for the 2022-23 season. Selecting Green would mean giving the duo a minimum of one or two seasons together.
Houston has the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
