Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James seems to be quite the enjoyer of the video game “Madden 25.” Earlier in the month of October, he uploaded a photo to Instagram that indicated he’s ranked in the top 100 among all players.

But that post from James didn’t stop former Carolina Panthers star quarterback Cam Newton from claiming that he would “beat the brakes” off him as well as his family in “Madden 25.”
'Nobody with a job can beat me. If you're in the NBA, NFL, etc… you're NOT going to beat me!' 👀@CameronNewton says he would BEAT THE BREAKS off @KingJames in Madden 25 🤣 https://t.co/E7FbTed1Gv pic.twitter.com/F2FMIl5hCD

“I would beat the brakes off LeBron,” Newton said. “I would beat the brakes off LeBron. I would beat the brakes off Bronny. I would beat the brakes off Bryce. And if Savannah wanna come play me too, I would beat the brakes off her too. And little baby Z (Zhuri James), stick with them Barbie dolls, baby. And mama James (Gloria James) wanna come through? You want some too, Ms. James?”
James might not have the free time to face off against Newton in “Madden 25” in the near future. Unlike Newton, James’ professional sports career is still going strong, as he’s in his 22nd season in the NBA and seventh playing for the storied Lakers organization.
The NBA’s oldest player is likely focused on continuing the Lakers’ winning streak to start the campaign. Los Angeles owns a 3-0 record, which marks the team’s longest undefeated start to a season in more than 10 years.
However, the Lakers’ streak will seemingly be in jeopardy when they take on the Phoenix Suns on Monday. The Suns own a 2-1 record, and the team’s only loss since the start of the campaign came against the Lakers a few days back on Oct. 25.
Los Angeles’ upcoming game against the Suns will also mark the start of a five-game road trip for the team. The first two games of the Lakers’ road trip project to be anything but easy, as the squad will play the Cleveland Cavaliers two days after taking on the Suns.
The Lakers will then wrap up their trip against a formidable Memphis Grizzlies team on Nov. 6. The Grizzlies are 2-1 and seem primed for a bounce-back year after the team won just 27 of its 82 games a season ago.
While James will probably have a busy schedule for the foreseeable future, hopefully he can find time to face off against Newton in the video game sometime soon. James could make Newton eat his words with a victory over the former Auburn University standout.
