Dwyane Wade supports LeBron in Stephen A. Smith feud: ‘I would have walked up on him the same way’

It’s been almost a week now since Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James confronted ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith over past comments he made regarding his son Bronny, yet the feud is still a prominent topic online.

The latest to weigh in on the interaction between Smith and the elder James during the Lakers’ March 6 victory over the New York Knicks is former Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade.

Wade expressed to TMZ Sports that he “loves” both the elder James and Smith but seemed to side with his former teammate unequivocally. He said that if he were in the elder James’ shoes, he would have done the exact same thing and confronted Smith.

Smith had particularly harsh words for the younger James as well as the elder James following Los Angeles’ loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Jan. 28. The younger James received the most playing time in a single game all season, yet he scored zero points, and Smith pleaded with the elder James “as a father” to “stop this” and said his son isn’t ready for the NBA.

Recently, the ESPN star also called into question whether the elder James indeed confronted him because of what he formerly said about his son. A video got leaked recently of the elder James speaking to a former teammate of his, Richard Jefferson, and in the clip he seemingly expressed disdain for Smith’s former “as a father” comments.

Based on that leaked footage, Smith contended that the elder James walked up on him because of what he had to say about him as a father.

The elder James’ Lakers have yet to pick up another victory since the confrontation between him and Smith took place at Madison Square Garden. Los Angeles has lost each of its past two games. The Lakers saw their winning streak come to an end against the Boston Celtics on March 8 and more recently suffered an ugly loss to the Brooklyn Nets on March 10.

Los Angeles can get back in the win column when it takes on the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night.
