The NBA season almost came to a screeching halt this week after the police shooting of Jacob Blake.
While the players were discussing whether or not they should continue the season, Los Angeles Clippers guard Patrick Beverley took an unnecessary shot at NBPA executive director Michele Roberts.
Roberts attempted to explain to the players the financial ramifications of not continuing the season. Beverley repeatedly interrupted her according to Yahoo! Sports’ Chris Haynes.
Roberts asked if she could continue to which Beverley responded, “No, I pay your salary.”
Beverley addressed the situation when talking to the media on Friday, saying that he had spoken to Roberts about the incident.
“We had a very interesting conversation,” Beverley said. “The PA is like a family. I’m pretty sure everyone here on campus is important to me. Everyone’s a part of a family. You don’t always agree with your family members and that’s okay.
“You communicate about it, and you try to make it better. Whatever the dialogue was or whatever you guys think it is, we made things better yesterday, meeting with the owners and that’s the most important.”
Beverley missed the Clippers’ final five seeding games and their playoff series with the Dallas Mavericks with a lingering left calf strain.
The NBA is expected to resume the postseason this weekend in the Orlando, Fla. bubble.
