Pro Bowl cornerback Marlon Humphrey calls Kawhi Leonard ‘dumb’ for having driven a 1997 Chevy Tahoe

Several years back, NBA superstar Kawhi Leonard — who was with the San Antonio Spurs at the time — spoke about using a 1997 Chevy Tahoe as one of his modes of transportation.

“It runs,” Leonard said, according to former NBA writer Lee Jenkins. “And it’s paid off.”

It’s unclear if Leonard still drives the Tahoe, but earlier this week, a Twitter page shared Leonard’s 2016 quotes about the car. Baltimore Ravens star Marlon Humphrey saw the tweet and didn’t hold back when discussing his opinion on the matter.

Green Bay Packers star Aaron Jones came to Leonard’s defense, explaining that he still has his own car from high school, but Humphrey was quick to respond.

Regardless of what kind of car he drives, Leonard has put together a remarkable career at the NBA level, and he isn’t done yet. The 31-year-old is looking to lead the Los Angeles Clippers on a deep playoff run this season, and the squad certainly has enough talent to make some noise.

Leonard is already a two-time NBA champion and two-time Finals MVP. He’s earned five All-Star bids and five All-NBA selections, and over the years, he’s also racked up countless defensive accolades (including two Defensive Player of the Year nods).

The veteran definitely doesn’t seem like the type of person to engage in any unnecessary drama, so it would be surprising if he addressed Humphrey’s comments. The Clippers star is likely more focused on his squad’s upcoming game against the Oklahoma City Thunder as the NBA postseason gets closer and closer.

The Clippers are currently the No. 5 seed in the Western Conference with a 38-35 record. Leonard and Paul George have yet to accomplish their ultimate goal of winning an NBA title as teammates, but some fans still believe in the team’s potential this season. After all, the squad has an extremely well-rounded roster and no shortage of superstars.

While George recently suffered a knee injury, he avoided anything too serious and will hopefully be back in action when it matters most. Leonard will certainly need help from George in order to bring a championship home to Los Angeles this season.
