Bob Myers stepped down from his role with the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday, but he might not be out of the league for all that long.

“I heard Bob Myers is headed to the [Los Angeles] Clippers,” a source told Ahn Fire Digital.

The Clippers are in the market for a new general manager after losing Michael Winger to the Washington Wizards, who are now expected to become “aggressive” in the coming months.

With Lawrence Frank still in Los Angeles as the president of basketball operations, it would be interesting to see how things would work, should Myers end up joining the organization.

Giver his track record, Myers would likely want to have as much power and control as possible within an organization. The 48-year-old admitted on Tuesday that he doesn’t know what is next for him.

Clippers owner Steve Ballmer is known to have very deep pockets, but a big offer might not be enough to convince Myers to stay in the league.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Myers declined lucrative offers from the Warriors to stay on.

Myers leaves the Warriors after leading them to multiple NBA titles over the past decade. Under Myers, the Warriors brought in key assets like Steve Kerr, Kevin Durant and Andrew Wiggins, all of whom contributed to Golden State’s major success in the current era.

The Warriors now enter a pivotal offseason. The team is coming off a tough second-round playoff loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. Draymond Green holds a player option and might become an unrestricted free agent. Klay Thompson might want a big extension as he enters the last year of his current deal. Perhaps a blockbuster trade is what the franchise needs to make it back to the NBA Finals.

As for the Clippers, they’re coming off another disappointing playoff run. They lost to the Phoenix Suns in the first round. Paul George didn’t make an appearance while Kawhi Leonard once again got hurt and missed the final three games of the series.

The George-Leonard era for the Clippers hasn’t resulted in much success, and it might be time to make some major changes.
