After days of dissing each other, it seems that Portland Trail Blazers superstar Damian Lillard and the Los Angeles Clippers’ Paul George have reached something of a truce.
Chris Haynes of TNT reported on Tuesday that the two talked to clear the air.
“Sources inform me that George recently reached out to Lillard to clear the air, explaining that he had no beef and clarified that it was just competitive banter on his part,” said Haynes. “Sources say Lillard apologized for remarks made by one of his family members but stated why he said what he said after that loss to the Clippers. Both stars relayed that there was no hard feelings.”
The drama started on Saturday when the two teams faced off against each other. With 18.6 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, Portland was down 118-117 and Lillard missed two clutch free throws.
George and teammate Patrick Beverley loudly berated Lillard, who is normally one of the NBA’s most clutch players, for missing the foul shots.
It then continued after the game, as Lillard and George went back and forth on social media.
The roots of this drama may go back even further. In last year’s playoffs, Lillard hit a long 3-pointer over George to knock his Oklahoma City Thunder out of the playoffs.
