Anthony Edwards says his daughter is the only thing that keeps him from being mad after a bad game

Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards doesn’t have bad games very often, but when he does, or his squad loses a matchup, he revealed his daughter is what keeps him in check.

“Can’t bring basketball to my home,” he said. “When I’m mad that we ain’t doing something, I don’t bring it home. When I get home, I don’t give a f—. I’m at the crib. But when I leave the crib, I’m pissed off. But when I get home, I don’t give a f—.”

He continued.

“I would say that’s probably the only thing that keeps me from being mad after a bad game or a loss, yeah, ’cause if she wake up, I know for a fact she gon’ come in there and be screaming my name or reaching for me, so yeah, that’s the only way I don’t be mad after a loss, for sure,” he said of his daughter. “It’s family time.”

Edwards has enjoyed great success at the NBA level, but everyone is bound to get frustrated at times. It’s nice that he makes sure to keep his work separate from his family life and doesn’t bring his frustrations home with him.

As a team, the Timberwolves have had their fair share of frustrations this season, but they’ve been playing good basketball as of late. They were 17-17 after a Jan. 4 loss to the Detroit Pistons. Now, they’re 30-24, putting them on the verge of an outright playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Edwards recently earned the third All-Star nod of his NBA career for his work so far this season. Across 52 appearances, he has averaged 27.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game on 44.6 percent shooting from the field and 42.4 percent shooting from long range.

He is building an impressive resume for himself at the professional level and earned perhaps his biggest accolade yet when he was named to the All-NBA Second Team for his efforts last season.

With Edwards, the Timberwolves have made lots of progress over the years. In his rookie season, they missed the playoffs. In each of the next two seasons, they made the playoffs but lost in the first round. Last season, they took a huge step by reaching the Western Conference Finals before losing in five games.

Now, they’re looking to get over the hump by reaching and ultimately winning the NBA Finals. They’re hoping to do so with a new-look cast after they traded away big man Karl-Anthony Towns in the offseason as part of a deal that brought fellow big man Julius Randle to Minnesota.

Edwards, who is just 23, should be a star in the NBA for a long time as long as nothing gets in the way. Minnesota will look to make the most of it.
