Report: Ben Simmons market across the NBA is ‘pretty dry’

According to a report, the market for Philadelphia 76ers point guard Ben Simmons is “pretty dry right now.”

“I believe the [Minnesota] Timberwolves are the team in the league right now that most wants Ben Simmons,” NBA insider Jon Krawczynski said during a recent episode of his podcast. “I think that the Ben Simmons market across the league is pretty dry right now. There’s a few other teams that are sniffing around, but it is not the feeding frenzy that I think that Daryl Morey was hoping to have when it became known that Ben Simmons was going to be moved. There is not this major bidding war that has commenced.”

The 76ers seem to be running out of options. They reportedly are asking for a massive return for Simmons, but the belief is that their asking price is too high to entice other teams.

Now that the market for Simmons is reportedly “dry,” the organization might be losing leverage in the situation. The Sixers might ultimately have to choose between keeping Simmons or trading him for less than their preferred asking price.

One thing is certain: Simmons wants his time with Philadelphia to come to an end. The three-time All-Star is reportedly not planning on attending training camp. He is also reportedly not communicating with the organization.

The former first-round pick is still a great player despite some of his imperfections. In the 2020-21 season, he averaged 14.3 points, 7.2 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game. He also chipped in with some elite defense.

Wherever he lands, he figures to be a key player for some team in the upcoming campaign.
