Team USA was finally looking like the best national team in the world after a dominant win over Argentina on Tuesday, but now it is dealing with a major loss to its roster.

On Wednesday, it was reported that Washington Wizards star Bradley Beal had entered health and safety protocols related to COVID-19. His participation in the Olympics is now in doubt.

The development marks a major loss for Team USA. After all, Beal and fellow superstar Kevin Durant were the team’s leading scorers in the win over Argentina. Both players finished with 17 points.

Without a doubt, Team USA has the talent to make up for the loss of Beal. That’s true even if he does end up having to miss the entire Olympic tournament.

Still, for a team that has looked shaky in its exhibition games, the loss of a leader like Beal is certainly unfortunate.

As for Beal, it’s a personal blow as well. The upcoming Olympics would have marked his first chance to represent his nation on the Olympic stage. Hopefully, he is able to clear health and safety protocols soon so that he gets the chance to rejoin his teammates.
