A new report indicates that the Atlanta Falcons could complete a trade of veteran wide receiver Julio Jones as early as next week.

Exactly where Jones ends up remains up in the air right now, but Tennessee Titans wideout A.J. Brown is making a concerted effort for Jones to be dealt to the Titans.

In recent weeks, the idea of the Falcons trading Jones has gotten stronger as the team seeks to carve out more salary cap space. The 32-year-old Jones is also coming off a season in which he was limited to nine games because of injury.

While the Falcons are certainly hopeful that they can get a first-round pick for Jones, there’s no guarantee that a team will give up that high of an asset for a receiver who’s set to begin his 11th NFL season.

In addition to the salary cap concerns, the Falcons are also in the midst of a rebuilding program after winning just four games last season. With both a new general manager and head coach in place, the reality of reshaping the team’s roster undoubtedly means that Jones’ days with the Falcons are numbered.
