Cleveland Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins, a second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft out of Ohio State University, finds himself in off-the-field drama before he’s suited up in a single game at the highest level.
On Saturday, he was arrested in the state of Florida on a domestic violence and battery charge. As of Saturday night, Judkins was in jail with a court appearance for him slated for Sunday morning. A bond was not set immediately for him, either.
David Soika of the Fort Lauderdale Police informed ESPN that Judkins’ charge is a misdemeanor.
There isn’t an overwhelming amount of information regarding what led up to Judkins’ arrest at this time. However, officers reportedly responded on Saturday morning and took Judkins into custody after concluding that battery had occurred.
Folks connected to the Browns and NFL have commented on the matter. According to a Browns spokesperson, Cleveland is “aware” of what transpired and is “gathering more details.”
Moreover, a league official told ESPN’s Adam Schefter that the NFL is “aware of the matter but will decline further comment.”
It’s worth noting that Judkins is the only one of several players the Browns selected in the 2025 NFL Draft who has yet to sign his rookie contract, and Browns rookies are set to report to training camp less than a week from now on Friday.
Folks theoretically could figure out pretty soon how the legal trouble Judkins is in will impact his future with the Browns.
Judkins finds himself in the predicament he’s in not long after he carved out a standout season of college football at Ohio State in the 2024 season. He ran for 1,060 yards and 14 touchdowns across 16 games played with the Buckeyes and averaged 5.5 rushing yards per attempt as well.
Whether Judkins will be a member of the Browns organization or in the NFL by the start of the 2025 season seems unclear right now in light of his arrest, and his legal situation will be one to follow for Browns fans in the coming days.
