Denver Broncos star wideout Courtland Sutton reportedly is a “long shot” to play in Denver’s Week 1 matchup against the Tennessee Titans on Monday night.
“Courtland Sutton, the young standout receiver for the Denver Broncos went down hard on his shoulder in practice,” NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said. “Made the catch by the way, but still went down hard on his shoulder. He has a sprained AC joint, didn’t do anything in practice today.
“He’s got a chance to do some things tomorrow, remember they have the Monday nighter so they have an extra night. From what I can tell, he is a long shot to play this week, but no one has ruled out his participation.”
It is dreadful news for a Broncos team that has already lost star linebacker Von Miller for the season.
Sutton, who finished last season with 1,112 receiving yards and six touchdowns, was one of Pro Football Focus’ best wideouts in 2019.
Denver certainly hopes that Sutton can suit up on Monday. His presence would instantly improve an offense led by second-year quarterback Drew Lock.
