Peyton Manning says joining Denver Broncos ownership ‘really not on my radar’

Peyton Manning recently addressed the reports that he could possibly be a part of the ownership of the Denver Broncos.

A little over a month ago, the legendary quarterback was reported to be among those who were “closely watching” the ownership situation in Denver.

But with the extremely high cost of purchasing an NFL franchise, it is understandable for Manning to be apprehensive about it. According to Forbes, the Broncos are worth $3.75 billion, making them the 10th most valuable franchise in the league.

Manning did earn a little less than $250 million in salary throughout his 18-year NFL career. Of course, that is definitely not enough to buy a majority stake in any team in the league.

However, the 45-year-old can still join the ownership groups of the potential suitors for the Broncos if he desires.

It also makes sense for Manning to be linked to Denver. He did play for the organization for four years before his retirement.

The University of Tennessee product entered the NFL in 1998. The Indianapolis Colts selected him with the first overall pick in that year’s draft. Manning played for the Colts for 14 seasons, earning four MVP awards and a Super Bowl championship during his tenure in Indianapolis.

He was then released by the team in the 2012 offseason and subsequently signed with the Broncos.

There, the seven-time first-team All-Pro selection continued his magic and secured his fifth and last MVP award in 2013. He also helped Denver win the organization’s third Super Bowl in the 2015 season before retiring from professional play.
