Denver Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds suffered what the Broncos organization labeled as “minor injuries” in a shooting in Denver nearly one week ago.

Per court documents acquired by 9News, the shooting took place in the early morning hours of Oct. 18. It also reportedly happened not long after Reynolds and some friends of his departed a strip club in the Denver area.

Two drivers allegedly started to follow Reynolds and his acquaintances as they were trying to leave the vicinity, and shots were then fired. Also according to 9News, bullets struck the back of Reynolds’ head along with his left arm. Reynolds supposedly wasn’t the only individual who got scathed in the shooting, as one unidentified man was shot in his back.

There were some recent arrests made in connection to the shooting, as two men were taken into custody on Wednesday, per 9News.

Any possible motive behind the shooting has yet to be uncovered.

Reynolds  — who was selected in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL draft — is in his first season playing for the Broncos after he carved out stints with the Los Angeles Rams, Tennessee Titans and Detroit Lions. Across five games played for Denver so far in the 2024 regular season, he has totaled 183 receiving yards, one receiving touchdown and eight first downs receiving.

After suiting up in each of the Broncos’ first five games, he has sat out the team’s last two contests. He is currently on injured reserve with a broken finger, and the Broncos own a 1-1 record with Reynolds sidelined.

Denver beat the New Orleans Saints on Oct. 17 but lost to the Los Angeles Chargers a few days earlier on Oct. 13.

The next game on Denver’s regular-season schedule is a matchup against a 1-6 Carolina Panthers team on Oct. 27, and the Broncos can improve their record to 5-3 on the season with a win.

NFL fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that Reynolds isn’t seriously injured in light of the shooting, and with any luck, he’ll be back on the field before the end of the season.
