The standoff between the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers continues to boil over as the start of the 2021 NFL season draws near.
Last month, it was reported that Rodgers is “absolutely” set on leaving Green Bay. He even reportedly declined a contract extension offer that would have made him the highest-paid quarterback in the league.
In 2018, Rodgers and the Packers agreed on a four-year extension for $134 million. Most people in the league probably expected that the star quarterback would retire as a member of the Packers. However, with two years left on the deal, a split is becoming more and more likely.
Rodgers has played for Green Bay for his entire professional career. The Packers drafted him in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft.
The partnership between the team and its star resulted in a Super Bowl championship in 2011. Rodgers also won the MVP award three times, the last of which was last season.
