The Cleveland Browns recently decided to move on from Odell Beckham Jr. after it became clear that the wide receiver was not a good fit with the organization.
In a new development, it sounds like Beckham has a certain landing spot at the top of his list if he clears waivers. The 29-year-old reportedly would like to join the Green Bay Packers.
The Packers are already Super Bowl contenders, but they’d certainly become even bigger threats to win it all if they were to add Beckham.
Beckham is capable of being an elite offensive weapon, though his production hasn’t been overly impressive of late. Over six games with the Browns this season, he totaled just 17 receptions for 232 yards.
In the 2019 season, he racked up 1,035 receiving yards. For his career, he has five seasons under his belt with at least 1,000 receiving yards.
Beckham is a three-time Pro Bowler, though he hasn’t earned that honor since the 2016 campaign. It’s probably too late for him to have a Pro Bowl-caliber season in 2021, but it’s definitely possible for him to join a contending team and make a big impact.
Only time will tell if he finds himself catching passes from Aaron Rodgers before the season ends. Right now, Green Bay has a 7-2 record, which is by far the best mark in a very weak NFC North. If Beckham joins the Packers, the team’s path to the division title will likely become even easier.
Green Bay is searching for its first Super Bowl title since 2011.
