1-time Pro Bowl WR sends message to Chiefs: ‘I swear I could help yall’

The Kansas City Chiefs fell short in their season opener against the Los Angeles Chargers on Friday, as they never led before losing by a final score of 27-21 to fall to 0-1 on the season.

During Friday’s contest, free agent wide receiver Allen Robinson II made a recruiting pitch to the Chiefs with a post on X. He claimed that he has what it takes to help Kansas City.

Robinson has enjoyed quite a successful career in the NFL, as he has 7,058 career receiving yards and 43 receiving touchdowns to his name. He’s racked up 1,000-plus receiving yards in three of his 11 seasons in the pros and totaled a career-high 1,400 with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a second-year player in the 2015 season. He earned a Pro Bowl nod then.

It’s been a while since Robinson has been a majorly impactful contributor at the highest level, however. The 32-year-old has racked up just 649 receiving yards over his last three seasons in the league combined, and he accumulated a mere three receptions across 12 games played with the Detroit Lions in the 2024 season.

Still, Robinson could be worth taking a flier on for the Chiefs, as he would be a low-risk, high-reward gamble for a Kansas City team that could perhaps use a jolt after an opening-game loss.

If the Chiefs want to be aggressive, maybe they’ll sign Robinson before the next game on their 17-game slate. Kansas City is taking on none other than the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles on Sept. 14 in a rematch of last season’s Super Bowl. That will be a big one for the Chiefs, as they should try to avoid starting out the 2025 campaign 0-2 at all costs.

Robinson is a free agent who Chiefs fans should keep tabs on in light of his recruitment pitch to the team on social media. If he doesn’t land with Kansas City, there’s a possibility that he will sign with another one of the league’s 32 teams.
