Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announce engagement on Instagram

Less than two years after Taylor Swift’s romantic relationship with Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce first went public back in October of 2023, the couple announced its engagement with a post on Instagram on Tuesday afternoon.

The post included a number of photos of the happy couple and a close-up shot of Swift’s ring.

It’s safe to claim that the joint Instagram post has gone viral, as it was liked more than 2.5 million times less than 30 minutes after it was uploaded.

Swift was in the earlier stages of her relationship with Kelce when his Chiefs made a title run following the 2023 NFL season. Kansas City ended up beating the San Francisco 49ers in the Super Bowl, and Kelce totaled 93 receiving yards on nine receptions in that contest.

The Grammy-winning singer and songwriter almost saw Kelce win yet another Super Bowl with the Chiefs earlier this year as well. Kansas City reached the league’s biggest stage once again, but it got handily outplayed by the Philadelphia Eagles with a championship at stake, and Kelce played far from at the top of his game. He ended the game with merely 39 receiving yards on four receptions along with zero receiving touchdowns.

If Kelce’s Chiefs ended up beating the Eagles, they would have become the first team in the history of the NFL to win three consecutive Super Bowls. Not even the New England Patriots accomplished such a feat when they were a dynasty under quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick.

Kelce and Swift just recently got officially engaged, but it seems as if the former had thoughts of proposing to the latter on his mind for a while. Page Six reported back in December of 2023 that he allegedly asked Swift’s dad for permission to propose to her.

It’s great to see that Kelce and Swift’s relationship seems to be going quite swimmingly despite how public it has been, and hopefully fans of the Chiefs will soon have a better idea as to when the pair will tie the knot.
