NFL legend suggests Chiefs are facing claims of referee bias because opposing fans don’t like their success

Considering all of the success that the Kansas City Chiefs have enjoyed in recent seasons, it might appear to some folks at first glance that Kansas City has gotten some favorable whistles.

A lot has gone the Chiefs’ way, as they are the two-time reigning champions and can become the first team in the Super Bowl era to win three in a row with a victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

But former star quarterback and NFL legend Warren Moon chalked up the narrative that the Chiefs “get the calls” and “all the breaks” to a product of their success. He claimed that folks made the same assertion about the New England Patriots when they were stacking up Super Bowl victories with quarterback Tom Brady and head coach Bill Belichick leading the way.

“You know, people say that about every great football team or every great team in general that they get the calls, they get all the breaks,” Moon told Fox News Digital. “They said the same thing about the Patriots, and they didn’t like the Patriots being as great as they were for as long as they were. So that just kind of happens with fans, because unless their team is winning, they don’t want to see anybody else win. I just have an appreciation for whoever is good and a respect for teams and people that are good.”

The Patriots captured a whopping six Super Bowls with Brady and Belichick in the fold. New England carved out probably the greatest dynasty in the history of the league to this point, winning enough rings with their dynamic duo to earn a tie with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most Super Bowl victories of any NFL franchise.

However, with three Super Bowl victories under their belt since the start of the 2019 season and a potential fourth on the way, the Patrick Mahomes-led Chiefs seemingly have a chance to usurp Brady’s Patriots as the greatest dynasty in NFL history by the time Mahomes’ career is all over.

After all, Mahomes has already accomplished so much in the NFL, and he’s only 29 years old. If he can lead the Chiefs to a Super Bowl win on Sunday, he will have four rings under his belt before his 30th birthday. For comparison, Brady had three Super Bowl rings prior to turning 30.

However, Mahomes and legendary head coach Andy Reid will have their work cut out for them on Sunday as they hope to add to their collection of Super Bowl titles. The Eagles have been one of the premier teams in the league all season and earned a dominant victory over the Washington Commanders in the NFC title game on Jan. 26.
