Report: Las Vegas Raiders hosting quarterback prospect Will Levis ahead of 2023 NFL Draft

Although the Las Vegas Raiders recently brought in veteran quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, it seems like they may still be in the market for their quarterback of the future.

The organization is reportedly hosting quarterback prospect Will Levis for a visit on Monday. Levis is projected to go in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft, and the Raiders have the No. 7 overall pick.

Levis certainly isn’t the biggest name on the board among quarterbacks in this year’s draft, but he’s seen as a first-round talent for a reason. At 6-foot-3 and 231 pounds, he has a big frame and strong arm.

Moreover, in two seasons at the University of Kentucky, Levis was able to boost his draft stock in a big way. In the 2021 season, he appeared in 13 games, completing 66.0 percent of his passes for 2,826 yards, 24 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He led his squad to a memorable season and a win in the Citrus Bowl.

In the 2022 season, Kentucky didn’t enjoy the same success, but Levis put some good things on tape. In 11 games, he completed 65.4 percent of his passes for 2,406 yards, 19 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.

It’s worth noting that Levis will be 24 years old by the time the 2023 NFL season starts, making him an older prospect. That’s probably something that teams will take into consideration on draft night.

If he were to land with the Raiders, he’d get a chance to play behind Garoppolo and gain some wisdom from the 31-year-old veteran. It’s unclear just how serious Las Vegas is about potentially targeting the quarterback prospect in the draft, but the team is clearly interested enough to spend some time with him and get a closer look at what he brings to the table.

Las Vegas is looking to bounce back in the 2023 season after going 6-11 in the 2022 campaign. The organization hasn’t won a playoff game since the 2002 season and is now entering a new era after the departure of quarterback Derek Carr.

Time will tell if Levis ends up being part of the team’s plans moving forward. The 2023 NFL Draft will begin later this month on April 27.
