Just after firing former head coach Anthony Lynn, the Los Angeles Chargers are reportedly interested in possibly hiring former college football head coach Urban Meyer for the position.

Exactly how much interest the Chargers may have is unknown, but they may have competition in signing him. Rumors are also circulating that Meyer could become the Jacksonville Jaguars’ next head coach.

Lynn was fired on Monday by the Chargers after four seasons in which he compiled a 33-31 regular season record.

The Chargers began the 2020 season with a 3-9 record before rallying with four straight wins to close out the year.

Meyer was head coach at four different NCAA schools, winning a pair of national championships with the University of Florida and one with Ohio State University.

One potential concern with hiring Meyer is that he left both Florida and Ohio State because of concerns about his health.

Lynn’s lone postseason appearance came in 2018, one year after the Chargers moved from San Diego to Los Angeles.
