The Los Angeles Rams signed superstar cornerback Jalen Ramsey to a five-year contract extension on Wednesday.

The deal reportedly is worth up to $105 million. Ramsey will receive $71.2 million at signing, the highest amount ever for a cornerback.

The Rams acquired Ramsey last season in a trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Ramsey is widely regarded as one of the best shutdown corners in the game.

Last season, he appeared in nine games for the Rams, recording 33 tackles, one interception and one force fumble.

In his career, Ramsey has been named to three Pro Bowls. Over four seasons, he has recorded 243 tackles and 10 interceptions.

The Rams missed the playoffs during the 2019 season, but there has been a lot of change to their roster heading into the 2020 campaign.

Los Angeles is hopeful that Ramsey will help anchor its secondary for years to come.
