Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Demarcus Robinson was reportedly robbed at gunpoint on Friday.

“Rams receiver Demarcus Robinson was robbed at gunpoint in Los Angeles on Friday morning…and cops say they were told the brazen thieves made off with over $100K worth of jewelry,” TMZ Sports reported.

“Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Sports…officers responded to calls of a robbery outside a Los Angeles area hotel just after midnight.

“Cops were told two men approached the 29-year-old football player, pointed firearms at him…and demanded he hand over his valuables — which included a pricey watch.

“Our sources say Robinson obliged…and the thieves took off. Thankfully, the wideout is said to now be doing OK despite the circumstances.

“Cops say they’ve launched an investigation into the matter…though, so far, no arrests have been made.”

Before being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs with the No. 126 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Robinson played three seasons of college football at the University of Florida. He put up particularly great receiving numbers during his sophomore season, the 2014 season, seeing as how he racked up 810 receiving yards and seven touchdowns on 53 receptions across 11 appearances with the Gators.

Robinson is in his eighth NFL season and first as a member of the Rams after spending the first six seasons of his career with the Chiefs and the 2022 season with the Baltimore Ravens.

He totaled 458 receiving yards, two receiving touchdowns and 23 first downs receiving in 17 games played with the Ravens a season ago. He also averaged 26.9 receiving yards per game.

Arguably the wide receiver’s best season in the NFL to this point came during the 2020 season, when he was still a member of the Chiefs. He finished the regular season with a career-high 466 receiving yards to go along with 26 first downs receiving and three receiving touchdowns.

The 2020 iteration of the Chiefs enjoyed an impressive amount of collective success too. They finished the regular season with a fantastic 14-2 record and made it all the way to the Super Bowl, where they lost to quarterback Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by a final score of 31-9. Robinson caught one pass for 11 yards in the loss.

The Buccaneers’ victory over Robinson and the Chiefs marked the seventh and final Super Bowl ring of Brady’s storied NFL career. He won his first six Super Bowls with head coach Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots.

Hopefully, the authorities will be able to locate and arrest the two men who robbed Robinson and return the stolen jewelry back to its rightful owner. But it’s great news that Robinson wasn’t seriously harmed during the frightening encounter.
