Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni hinted at his introductory press conference that there could be a quarterback competition between Carson Wentz and Jalen Hurts.
Wentz was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft and has already signed a big extension with the Eagles.
However, he struggled mightily during the 2020 season and was benched by former head coach Doug Pederson in favor of Hurts.
Hurts was taken by the Eagles in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
The rookie showed his ability to be be a lethal dual-threat quarterback and helped the Eagles beat the New Orleans Saints.
Hurts threw six touchdowns and ran for three more this season.
Wentz started the Eagles’ first 12 games, but he threw 15 interceptions and just 16 touchdowns. The Eagles were 3-8-1 under Wentz this season.
Clearly, Sirianni wants to see what he has in both quarterbacks before making a decision on next season’s starter.
