Veteran linebacker Myles Jack recently revealed that he considered going to trade school and becoming an electrician or plumber before signing a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles.

To think of someone like Jack, who has made a little under $50 million over the course of his NFL career, going to trade school might be pretty amusing for some fans.

Despite signing with the Eagles less than a week ago, Jack was throw straight into the deep end and got some first-team reps during each of his first two practices with the team.

Jack is entering his eighth year in the league, having spent his first six with the Jacksonville Jaguars and last season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He recorded 104 combined tackles, three tackles for loss and three passes defended for the Steelers in the 2022 campaign while notching a PFF grade of 53.6.

The former second-round pick is currently listed as Philadelphia’s third-string middle linebacker behind Nakobe Dean and Shaun Bradley. It’ll be interesting to see how much playing time he gets in the team’s three preseason games.

Philly’s first tune-up will come on Saturday night against the Baltimore Ravens. The squad also has games against the Cleveland Browns and Indianapolis Colts scheduled.

Last season, the Eagles were led by Jalen Hurts and made it all the way to the Super Bowl, where they narrowly lost to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

A University of California, Los Angeles product, Jack is still looking for the first Super Bowl title of his career. He’s recorded 617 combined tackles, 22 tackles for loss, 18 quarterback hits and three interceptions throughout his time in the NFL.

The Eagles will open up the 2023 regular season with a tough matchup on the road against the New England Patriots. A Super Bowl LVII rematch with the Chiefs awaits in Week 11 in what will surely be one of the best games of the season.

Jack is surely hoping that he’ll get a chance to make his mark for the team in those games and other contests for the rest of the season.
