Cooper Flagg says he is heading into his second NBA season taller than he was a year ago.
The Dallas Mavericks forward said at Friday’s media day that he measured 6-foot-10 without shoes at his physical Thursday.
Asked about suggestions that he had reached 6-foot-11, Flagg pointed to the measurement from his physical.
“I got listed at my physical yesterday, I’m 6-10. With no shoes so…” Flagg said.
He then had some fun with the question. The NBA shared video of the exchange with his follow-up: “Maybe I’m 6’11”, I don’t know.”

Flagg compared the new measurement with his 6-foot-9 listing last season. That makes Friday’s answer a more concrete update than simply judging his height from offseason photographs.
It also leaves an important distinction: Flagg cited a barefoot measurement from a physical. His playful 6-foot-11 remark should not be treated as a second confirmed measurement.
Flagg’s second season brings more than a height change
The 19-year-old reigning Rookie of the Year already has a productive first NBA season behind him.
Flagg averaged 21.0 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game as a rookie.
That combination is why the height update is interesting from a basketball perspective. His offensive responsibilities already extend beyond finishing possessions: The assist production gives Dallas a reason to explore how he can create opportunities for teammates, too.
Extra size could help him see passing options over smaller defenders or finish over them, but those are possibilities to watch rather than improvements established by a measurement. His decision-making and ability to handle defensive pressure will still matter more than the number on a roster page.
There is another change ahead. Kyrie Irving said Friday that he has no physical restrictions following his ACL recovery.
In a separate media-day clip posted by the NBA, Flagg called Irving “one of the greats.”

COOPER: "Obviously, he's one of the greats."

Sharing the floor with Irving could give Flagg more chances to attack after another ballhandler has shifted the defense. How that partnership develops offers a more meaningful test of his next step than height alone, even if Friday’s measurement gives Mavericks fans another reason to be curious.
