Damian Lillard: ‘I think KD healthy could very well be the best player in the NBA’

Portland Trail Blazers All-Star guard Damian Lillard had some high praise for Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant on the Dan Patrick Show.

Lillard claimed that Durant could be the best player in the league, which is a lofty title considering some of the great players (Lillard included) in the game today.

“I think KD (Durant) healthy could very well be the best player in the NBA,” Lillard said. “I mean nobody can guard him. If he’s healthy, he’s shooting threes off the dribble, pulling up off the dribble, posting up. He can get to the rim. You can’t block his shot. The way he handles the ball and moves at that size, who are you going to put on him? When healthy, I think at this moment, he could very well be the best player in the league.”

Durant has battled injuries to appear in just 29 games this season, but he has been dominant when he’s in the lineup.

The 11-time All-Star is averaging 28.3 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game while shooting 54.6 percent from the field and 47.9 percent from beyond the arc.

Durant’s numbers are flat-out insane, and the fact that he and the Nets hold the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference may allow him to add to his already impressive career resume.

A two-time champion and two-time NBA Finals MVP, Durant has the ability to further cement his legacy and status in the league with another title this year.

It will be fun to watch Durant face off with other superstars such as Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid and potentially LeBron James this postseason as he searches for his third NBA title.
