Report: James Harden frustrated with the Brooklyn Nets’ lack of spacing

Things aren’t going well for the Brooklyn Nets right now, as they have lost eight straight games and dropped to seventh place in the Eastern Conference.

There has been lots of speculation recently about James Harden and his future with the organization. It seems as if he could end up leaving the Nets this coming offseason.

The 32-year-old superstar reportedly isn’t happy with the team’s lack of spacing.

“I have heard that he is frustrated with the lack of spacing on the team,” said ESPN’s Zach Lowe during a recent podcast episode. “And the reason they don’t have spacing right now is because very often two or three of their best shooters are out.”

Solid shooters like Kevin Durant and Joe Harris have missed time for the Nets this season. Harden himself is dealing with an injury right now, and he has missed two straight games.

So far this season, Harden is averaging 22.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 10.2 assists per game while shooting 41.4 percent from the floor and 33.2 percent from beyond the arc. He hasn’t been playing at the level that fans have become accustomed to seeing him at.

With the trade deadline looming, the Nets are apparently looking to make some moves. If the regular season were to end today, Brooklyn would find itself participating in the league’s play-in tournament.

Harden holds a player option for next season, but it’s looking like there’s a solid chance he will decline that option and become an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career this coming offseason.

Brooklyn sports a 29-24 record so far in the 2021-22 season.
