Boston Celtics star Gordon Hayward will miss four weeks of action after being diagnosed with a serious ankle sprain.

Hayward, 30, got hurt in the fourth quarter of the Celtics’ 109-101 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday.

The forward concluded the contest with 12 points, four rebounds, four steals and three assists. He is a big part of the Celtics’ success on the court.

After all, Hayward is averaging 17.5 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game this season.

The Celtics finished the 2019-20 season with the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference. They are currently ahead of the Sixers, 1-0, in their first-round series.

However, Hayward’s injury could prove to be damaging to their playoff outlook.

Game 2 between the Celtics and Sixers takes place on Wednesday.
