On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Clippers fell to the Dallas Mavericks in Game 2 of their first-round playoff series, 127-114.

For L.A., it was a contest that was defined by the struggles of Paul George, who shot just 4-of-17 from the field and scored a paltry 14 points.

On Thursday, George went on social media and sent a message to his critics.

When the Clippers acquired George in a stunning trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder last July, it was with the expectation that he would be the final piece to a championship puzzle.

However, George has historically been inconsistent in the postseason. Although his overall playoff averages are identical to his regular season averages, he’s had more than his share of poor playoff games offensively.

With starting point guard Patrick Beverley doubtful for Game 3 with a strained left calf, the Clippers will need George to play even better than usual for them to gain the upper hand against the Mavs.

One thing is for sure: Given the presence of Luka Doncic, Kristaps Porzingis and coach Rick Carlisle on the other side, this series won’t be easy for the Clippers.
