Former NBA player and current analyst Kendrick Perkins doesn’t believe that Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo is as marketable as players like Ja Morant, Luka Doncic, Trae Young and Jayson Tatum.
Even though Antetokounmpo led the Bucks to last season’s NBA title, Perkins doesn’t seem to think that he can be the next face of the NBA.

Perkins compared Antetokounmpo to San Antonio Spurs legend Tim Duncan in terms of his marketability. Duncan won several titles with the Spurs, but he was never the flashiest player during his time in the NBA.

While Perkins may not believe that Antetokounmpo has what it takes, it’s hard to argue with the resume that the 27-year-old boasts.
Antetokounmpo is in the ninth year of his NBA career, and he’s already been named an All-Star six times. He has won two regular season MVP awards, one Finals MVP, one Defensive Player of the Year award and a handful of other honors.
He’s no doubt one of the best two-way players in the league, and he’s showing that this season for Milwaukee.
Antetokounmpo is averaging 29.3 points, 11.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game this season while shooting 54.3 percent from the field and 30.0 percent from beyond the arc.
He’s also been extremely effective on the defensive end. The two-time MVP has recorded 3.0 defensive win shares this season, and his impact is evident during every defensive possession.
Regardless of Perkins’ take on Antetokounmpo’s marketability, it’s hard to argue that the superstar isn’t one of the top players in the league, which certainly puts him in the conversation to be the next face of the NBA.
