Trade talks involving Philadelphia 76ers point guard Ben Simmons are currently in limbo, though the Sixers appear to be in no rush to make a deal.
The 25-year-old Simmons was the first overall pick back in the 2016 NBA Draft, and he has put up solid all-around numbers in his four seasons of play.
However, the Sixers have failed to reach the Eastern Conference finals in any of Simmons’ four seasons, which has led to biting criticism being directed at him.
Questions about Simmons’ maturity, work ethic and shooting touch could all be seen as reasons for his being on the trading block, though the 76ers are asking any team for plenty of assets in return.
Simmons didn’t help himself when he stated that he felt the Sixers were in a good position to win the NBA title last season, an assessment that fell short.
While the 76ers may still have Simmons on their roster when the team reports for training camp, it’s uncertain how much longer that would last. If the Sixers end up finding a suitable trading partner, he’ll start a new chapter in his life, and so will the team.
