Multiple teams are reportedly showing interest in Toronto Raptors star forward Pascal Siakam.
“A source with knowledge of the situation in Toronto said the Raptors are receiving numerous calls about Siakam and team president Masai Ujiri is ‘listening like a good negotiator,’” wrote Jason Anderson of the Sacramento Bee. “The [Sacramento] Kings, Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers are said to be particularly ‘enamored’ with Siakam. A trade is possible, but not likely, the source said, adding Siakam has no desire to be moved despite the possibility of a rebuilding situation in Toronto.”
Siakam’s name has been involved in trade rumors for most of the offseason, and the Raptors are reportedly making the one-time All-Star available in trade talks.
One of the teams that he has been linked with is the Golden State Warriors.
Last season, the 27-year-old averaged 21.4 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game while shooting 45.5 percent from the field and 29.7 percent from beyond the arc.
With the Raptors potentially heading towards a rebuild after the loss of franchise icon Kyle Lowry, Siakam could be moved. The team also recently selected forward Scottie Barnes with the fourth overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
After seven straight seasons of making the playoffs and being contenders in the Eastern Conference, the Raptors went 27-45 last season, missing the postseason by a considerable amount.
Should Siakam end up being traded, it will be interesting to see what type of package he can bring Toronto in return.
