Toronto Raptors guard Terence Davis reportedly was arrested Tuesday night and charged with third-degree assault and criminal mischief.

Davis, 23, reportedly had a verbal dispute with his former girlfriend that escalated to a terrifying place. The guard allegedly hit her in the face and broke her phone, according to the New York Police Department’s statement.

It is a disturbing situation, and Davis will likely be facing discipline not only from law enforcement but from the NBA as well.

This past season, Davis showed promise for the Raptors. He was named to the NBA’s All-Rookie Second Team.

The 23-year-old averaged 7.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game this past year.
