After a first round exit in this year’s playoffs, the Washington Wizards will be looking to strengthen their roster in the coming offseason.

The franchise is reportedly keeping an eye on the situation between the Dallas Mavericks and Kristaps Porzingis.

“Kristaps Porzingis, who is reportedly frustrated with his situation in Dallas, is a name to watch,” wrote Chris Crouse of FortyEightMinutes. “The front office continues to monitor Porzingis’ situation, though the price tag will be a major factor in whether or not the Wizards can pull off a deal.”

Washington was on the verge of missing the postseason as it held a 17-32 record in early April. But the team went 17-6 the rest of the way to reach the play-in tournament. After defeating the Indiana Pacers, it nabbed the eighth seed of the Eastern Conference.

If the Wizards want to improve by adding Porzingis to the lineup, they might need to part ways with some of their players because the 25-year-old big man is in the middle of the five-year contract he signed with the Mavericks in 2019.
