Report: Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson could still be traded in offseason

NFL insider Ian Rapoport recently appeared on “NFL GameDay” and offered some insight into the futures of Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson.

“They did agree to look at trade options after the season,” Rapoport said of Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. “I am told the Denver Broncos, who would have been interested this past offseason, remain interested and could try to trade for Rodgers, make a substantial offer, after this season. They have not yet committed to a long-term quarterback.

“Meanwhile, for the [Seattle] Seahawks and Russell Wilson, things are also going swimmingly. Right now, relationship good with the general manager John Schneider, with the coach Pete Carroll. However, it is clear, it is a make-or-break year for Seattle. Russ wants to cook. He wants to throw it a little bit. We will see who won the power struggle between him and Pete Carroll based on how they do today. If things go well, Wilson could end up finishing his career in Seattle. If not, they could look to trade him after the season.”

A trade involving Rodgers or Wilson would undoubtedly change the landscape of the NFL. It doesn’t sound like either player will be dealt this season, but it will certainly be something to keep an eye on after the 2021 campaign ends.

Rodgers, who is one of the greatest players in Packers history, is hoping to guide the team to a Super Bowl title in the 2021 season. For much of the offseason, the superstar’s future with the organization was in question, but the two sides ultimately agreed to a deal.

Rodgers is a nine-time Pro Bowler, three-time MVP and one-time Super Bowl champion.

Meanwhile, Wilson has also had a somewhat rocky offseason with the Seahawks. He’s surely hoping to put that in the rearview mirror for the duration of the 2021 season.

Wilson is a seven-time Pro Bowler and one-time Super Bowl champion.

Rodgers and Wilson are two of the best quarterbacks of this generation, and it would be monumental if either one of them played for a new team next season.
