On Wednesday — when it was already revealed that Donald Trump had won the United States presidential election — Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s mother Diane seemingly celebrated the outcome of the election with a post on X.
Her social media post drew some backlash, with some people responding negatively.
One person even wished for the younger Tagovailoa to die on his next “brutal hit,” seemingly due to his mother’s political views.
The elder Tagovailoa responded when she made another post on X on Thursday.
The elder Tagovailoa attached screenshots as part of her post.
Another woman in the Tagovailoa family is also seemingly a fan of Trump. Back in October, about a month before the election, the younger Tagovailoa’s wife made a post on Instagram in which she voiced support for the 78-year-old.
The Dolphins quarterback himself has never publicly endorsed Trump.
The younger Tagovailoa made his return to the field not all that long ago for the Dolphins after a concussion kept him on the shelf for more than a month. He played his first game since Sept. 12 when Miami took on the Arizona Cardinals on Oct. 27.
In his return, he totaled 234 passing yards. Then, he finished with nearly the same number of passing yards in Miami’s most recent game against the Buffalo Bills on Nov. 3, as he totaled 231 while being incredibly accurate with his passes.
While the younger Tagovailoa has looked pretty sharp since returning to the lineup from his head injury, he has yet to lead the Dolphins to their third win of the season. Miami lost to the Cardinals by just one point and then fell to the Bills by three.
But perhaps the younger Tagovailoa will help the Dolphins snap their three-game losing streak when they take on the Los Angeles Rams on Monday night. After all, Miami proved against the Bills that it can compete with good teams on the road as long as the younger Tagovailoa is healthy and leading its offensive attack.
