According to a report, the city of New Orleans will require proof of a COVID-19 vaccination or a negative test in order to enter New Orleans Saints home games this upcoming season.

“Mayor LaToya Cantrell is planning to announce that people will need to show proof of a COVID-19 vaccination or a recent negative coronavirus test before entering New Orleans restaurants, bars and other venues, including the Caesars Superdome, according to multiple sources familiar with the city’s plans,” NOLA.com reported.

With COVID-19 cases rising in many states, several professional sports organizations are taking this sort of initiative. Similarly, some pro sports teams are requiring that all of their employees get the vaccine.

Many NFL players have been outspoken about their frustrations with some of the policies that are being enforced. Any players that choose not to get vaccinated will have to adhere to stricter protocols.

Overall, this has been a very hot topic lately.

Additionally, the NFL announced this season that games impacted by COVID-19 could result in forfeits if they cannot be rescheduled. Aside from the obvious health benefits of getting vaccinated, the risk of forfeiting a game should serve as an additional incentive.

It will be interesting to monitor how this season unfolds.
