The 2023 NFL Draft is quickly approaching, with rumors about prospects flying all over. Prospects are moving up and down draft boards, and it seems like one player who is gaining some steam is Boston College wide receiver Zay Flowers.
According to NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, Flowers’ stock is “surging.”
“Also in pass-catching buzz, don’t be shocked if Boston College’s Zay Flowers is the first wide receiver off the board,” Fowler wrote. “His stock is surging.”
Flowers made some headlines back in February after he revealed an impressive body transformation. That undoubtedly is one of the reasons why his stock is rising.

Over the course of his career at Boston College, the Florida native caught 200 passes for 3,056 yards and 29 touchdowns. He was productive in every single one of his four years with the Eagles.
The 22-year-old has already been linked to plenty of teams, including the Dallas Cowboys, Las Vegas Raiders and New England Patriots. All three of those teams have picks in the first round, which is when Flowers is expected to be selected.

Flowers seems to make a lot of sense for the Patriots, who have a strong need for a wideout after the departure of Jakobi Meyers, who signed with the Raiders.
Some of Flowers’ strengths are his shiftiness and ability to get open downfield consistently.
“Slot target who plays with unbridled energy and immense confidence,” wrote NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein in an evaluation of Flowers. “Flowers is slightly built but can side-step press and fly into action with above-average acceleration and an attacking demeanor. Flowers has a tendency to rush his routes, but his ability to play with speed and move with athleticism makes him hard to read for defenders. His ball skills will shine brightly at times, but frustrating drops come with the package. Flowers has the skill set to become a valuable playmaker as a pro.”
Flowers has been consistently mentioned as one of the top receivers available in the 2023 NFL Draft, and the buzz is showing no signs of slowing down.
The future is really bright for Flowers, and it’ll be interesting to see where he ends up landing. When all is said and done, he could easily end up being one of the best players from this draft class.
The 2023 draft is slated to get started on April 27 and will run through April 29. Flowers has reportedly accepted an invitation to the draft and will attend.
